The Slator Family History

The current version of the Slator Family Tree begins with John (Jack) Slator, my Grandfather, who was born May 17, 1892, in Dublin, Ireland.

My mother's maiden name is Spencer, and her mother's maiden name was Keating, and I'm working on a family tree for that side too.

It's entirely possible there is no connection to my family history, but the Tully Presbyterian Church, below, is one of the few references to my family name that's been found, so far, in searching the various archive sites hosted in Ireland.

Tully Presbyterian Church

This church was built for the needs of Presbyterian families in the townlands of Coolarty and Tully near Granard in 1855, on land owned by Mr. J. W. Bond. The Wilson-Slator family of Whitehill contributed substantially to the cost of the building. The church was in use up to the mid-1950s. The largest mullioned window was donated for use at the Friary, Multyfarnham and its pulpit to Malahide Presbyterian Church.

A book I'd like to read: Tales of the R.I.C. (anonymous author), 2nd edn (Edinburgh: William Blackwood and Sons, 1921).
